Unfortunately, a rat decided that the pineapple was ready to cut before we did, and left a golfball-sized hole in it. We cut the fruit and cleaned around the hole. The pineapple fruit turned out to be the best pineapple that we have ever tasted! It was sweeter and juicier than any fresh pineapple from the grocery.  After the pineapple fruit was cut, the plant is putting out a "pup".
